  1. Apples with Worms

What you need:

·         6 large apples - Rome Beauty, Golden Delicious, or Jonagold

·         1/2 cup raisins or currants

·         1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

·         1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

·         1/4 cup water

·         2 tablespoons butter

·         1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

·         6 wiggly candy worms

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375°F. Wash apples. Remove cores to 1/2 inch of the bottom of the apples removing the seeds and saving the top of each apple. Make the holes about 3/4-inch to an inch wide. Alternatively, core apples from blossom ends, leaving stem ends intact.

In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, currants/raisins, and pecans/walnuts. Place apples in a baking pan. Stuff each apple with this mixture. Top with a dot of butter and place the top with a stem. Add boiling water to the baking pan

Bake, uncovered, until apples are tender when pierced and skin begins to crack, 30 to 40 minutes.

Remove apples from oven; cool in pan at least 10 minutes or let cool to room temperature. Set each apple in a small bowl and baste the apple with the pan juices.
In the top of each apple, cut a hole large enough for one of the candy worms and tuck one end into each apple, leaving most of the worm dangling.
You can serve with whipped topping or whipped cream.

  1. Vampire Punch with Floating Hands

  1. Witches' Fingers

What you need:

·         1 cup Butter, softened

·         1 cup Icing sugar

·         1 Egg

·         1 tsp Almond extract

·         1 tsp Vanilla

·         2 2/3 cups Flour

·         1 tsp Baking soda or powder (optional)

·         1 tsp Salt

·         3/4 cup Almonds, whole blanched

·         1 Tube red decorator gel (optional)

Gross everyone out with these creepy cookies.
In bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla. Beat in flour, baking soda (optional), and salt. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Working with one quarter of the dough at a time and keeping remainder refrigerated, roll heaping teaspoonful of dough into finger shape for each cookie. Press almond firmly into 1 end for nail. Squeeze in centre to create knuckle shape. Using paring knife, make slashes in several places to form knuckle.

Place on lightly greased baking sheets; bake in 325F (160C) oven for 20-25 minutes or until pale golden. Let cool and remove from baking sheets. You may want to decorate with red decorator gel to create "blood" effect.
