A little history...
The Montessori Learning Centre was established in 1984, and was the first Montessori school in Pickering. We are a non-denominational, private school, owned and operated by a Montessori Directress.
School Terms...
The school year is divided into three terms, with a two-week Christmas Break and a ten day March Break. The school year ends in mid-June.
Age Groups...
The children work in groups, Pre-Casa (ages 1 1/2 to 3), Casa (ages 3 to 6), Junior ( ages 6 to 9), Intermediate (ages 9 to 12) and Senior Elementary (ages 13 to 14), with some overlap. Along with the regular Montessori programme, the school introduces French, Physical Education, Music and Movement, Art Appreciation and Computer classes. Ballet, Piano, Drama, Calligraphy and Karate classes may be offered as optional extra-curricular activities.
