Dearcroft, founded in 1968 by Peter and Barbara Phippen, is one of Canada's oldest Montessori Schools. From its beginning in a church hall, to its move in 1976 to the present location in old Oakville, Dearcroft has been a significant force in the field of education in Oakville.
Located within walking distance of the town, Lake Ontario and community parks, it blends into pleasant, treed surroundings on an attractive two acre campus. Spacious classrooms, large windows, and a unique building design combine to provide a bright, cheerful, indoor learning environment. The outdoor area is equally pleasant with a variety of play equipment and ample space for games, climbing and other sports activities.
Over more than thirty years of operation under the direction of the Phippen family, Dearcroft has evolved to become a school of approximately 140 children operating on the Pre-School and Elementary levels. It has developed a reputation for academic excellence within a family oriented setting, nurturing the child's needs for social, emotional and academic growth.
The school provides, a favorable pupil-teacher ratio, with support staff for specialty areas and access to computers. Student progress is carefully tracked by teachers and reported regularly to parents.
