Description: Occupational therapy helps people live independently at home, work and in the community by promoting health, preventing injury, facilitating skill development and/or maintaining function. Children's primary occupation is student life which involves activities such as reading, writing, making friends, playing, and participating in physical activity. At school teachers depend on written work to measure how well a child is learning. Having identified the need for dedicated support services for children with writing and fine motor difficulties, Paula Cappadocia and Lizette Mazariego, Occupational Therapists, founded Hand Skills for Children in 2000. Hand Skills for Children is a private pediatric practice which offers individual and group based therapy programs with a focus on pre-printing, printing, handwriting and fine motor skills. Group based programs offer children a supportive environment while providing parents with an alternative choice to private therapy.
