Description: |
Of all the skills learned in a summer at Camp Kodiak, none are more important than social skills. Many of our campers have experienced rejection and isolation. They have not experienced the joy of being a valued member of a group. Some have never had a best friend. At Camp Kodiak we provide these opportunities. We teach social skills in everything we do, whether we're having lunch, playing baseball or doing cabin clean-up. We also teach them in a more focused way through our drama program. We use role playing and improvisation to teach our young people how to deal with the social situations they find difficult. Campers are given the opportunity to explore options and share ideas under the guidance of trained, professional instructors.
